we've had some nice weather in austin during the past few weeks; we finally seemed to have been escaping the last bit of a chilly texas winter...
however, tonight they're saying we could get snow tomorrow....up to an inch!
...i'll believe it when i see it.

we had a few warm winter days in austin after a lot of chilly texas days! it finally was warm enough for me to be comfortable wearing a skirt. i took boo out into the sunshine to take pictures with me. he loves the sun...and taking pictures.

We had an amazing time, and the photographer was fabulous. I do have some more individual pics from my own camera, but I have to upload them...which I'll do soon! In my pics you can see my entire outfit.

outfit of the day: feelin' kinda gypsy

The other day I came across an old skirt I hadn't worn in quite awhile and, channeling my inner-gypsy, I decided to create an outfit around it:

It was the perfect outfit for another hot august day here in Austin; skirts and maxi dresses are wardrobe essentials for days which come close to hitting 110 degrees. And one of my favorite parts of the entire outfit was my nail color --a light, bright blue -- which I thought was really unexpected with the rest of the outfit.

Unfortunately, you have to order barry m nail colors from the UK, and they do a terrible job of packing. One of my polishes actually shattered in transit, making for a bit of a mess. Still, they're affordable and come in awesome colors which I haven't seen anywhere else! Really love crazy colors for nails.

outfit of the day: 40s style throwback

I really adore this skirt. It completely evokes that 1940s/1950s style of high-waisted, voluminous circle skirts. When I wore this outfit, I received a crazy amount of compliments; I couldn't even keep track! High-waisted, statement-making skirts like this are bound to draw attention....and I highly recommend trying out this look. I modernized it with an edgy, exposed-zipper tank blouse from topshop, which is also fantastic. Love this outfit!

Also, unfortunately, the pictures aren't the best quality, since we took them at night. Have to work to learn the D90 settings -- I still use auto most of the time, although I love playing with the lens. Still, I'm not the one taking the pictures. Anyway, here are a few pics of my lovely h&m dress which I snagged on my last trip to nyc. I forgot to take pictures of the back -- it's low cut scoopneck, which really makes the dress.

I really enjoy this outfit; it's simple yet chic, and the cardigan is handy to have when you enter anywhere with air conditioning. Plus I adore the color of the cardigan; it doesn't completely translate from the pictures, but it's almost a neon color, but not so bright, and with a little bit of a lime hue. And, of course, you've seen the shoes before! They go with everything; I highly recommend buying a pair of booties for your wardrobe if you don't have any yet.

outfit of the day: Feathers Vintage, Fashion Week Austin

Soooooooo, it's Austin Fashion Week here....= crazy busy.

I finally get a break. Last night was our fashion show at Qua, and everything went really well. There was the usual craziness, especially in light of planning everything at the last second! For the small amount of preparation, I think everything turned out extraordinarily well! I'm excited to get some photos; hopefully I'll get those soon. I didn't have time to take any pics myself (unfortunately; I really would have loved to!), but we had 2 great photographers backstage, as well as more for the runway.

In other Fashion Week news, I went mentioned earlier that I would be attending the Feathers Vintage Blog Launch Party in Austin...and I did. It was really fab! Lots of cute outfits, and all around fun. And I'm happy to say I made their "Favorite Fashionistas" blog! Here's my pic from their site:

I love these shoes (obviously). And I really love combining bright/neon yellow with hot pink or magenta. Just think it's a great combination. I snatched up these fantastic leggings at topshop when I visited london last february...that place is amazing! Too bad there's only one in the US...and it's alllll the way in NYC. Makes me sad. Hopefully they'll continue expanding...!

Shoe lovers, eat your heart out.

I wish I had some close-ups of the detailing on this dress! Anyway, it's a really cute secretary-style bright magenta dress with a three-button closure detailing at the neckline. The top is sheer (bottom is not), and the waist has elasticity, which helps to make it fitted while maintaining that blouson-like look. Will be up on ebay soon (although I have more styling to do before that happens!) Oh, and I just threw in that extra photo of the shoes...picked those babies up in Barcelona at a Zara. They are fabulous! And not to be missed with the highlighter neon yellow color! Loves.
