80s comeback

i kinda love big shoulders.

yes, it's true -- you have to be super careful when choosing your silhouettes. Many vintage 80s tops and dresses with shoulder pads absolutely engulf my narrow shoulders, so, big shoulders don't always work.

but, a little goes a long way. i adore this ruched shoulder black cardi which i picked up at h&m in michigan during christmas. it is the perfect amount of big shoulder-ness for me!

so, break out the shoulder pads (in moderation, naturally). just remember to only test out one 80s element at a time!

outfit of the day: sunny skies

we've had some nice weather in austin during the past few weeks; we finally seemed to have been escaping the last bit of a chilly texas winter...
however, tonight they're saying we could get snow tomorrow....up to an inch!
...i'll believe it when i see it.

we had a few warm winter days in austin after a lot of chilly texas days! it finally was warm enough for me to be comfortable wearing a skirt. i took boo out into the sunshine to take pictures with me. he loves the sun...and taking pictures.

how can you not love her? she certainly puts on a show. she looks fab, as always! her performace with elton john to open the grammys was great; loved the green sequin outfit - especially the shoes (still have to find a picture of her entire performance outfit; will update when i get one!).

seeking the perfect pair...

Lately, i've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of pants; it has been an exhausting experience. i still haven't found exactly what i've been looking for, but here are a few contenders, at least in terms of shape. I'm looking for something slightly higher-waisted, kind of tapered, and with the option to roll up the bottom to show off the shoes. here are a few i've come across with potential:


I really like these topshop cropped pants...they're also completely in line with the khaki trend. $70 at topshop.com; not a bad price. they could work.

a pair from reiss.co.uk - also cute; not entirely sold on these, though. still, cute. cost: $95


a nice pair from asos.com. i do really like these. still, hard to tell how the fabric will look in person...and returns to the UK suck. still, at $76.49...it may be worth it to test these babies out.


these may win the contest. super simple, super cute jcrew cropped trouser at jcrew.com. for $118, i may have to think this decision over a little while longer.
